The Story
While Picoso’s is brand new to Lubbock – as of TODAY, April 30! – it’s not the first West Texas rodeo for the owners. If you’ve ever traveled 40 miles north to Leal’s in Plainview, you’ll know who we are talking about. Jeremy and Heather Waller grew up in the restaurant business, Heather’s grandparents opened the first Leal’s in 1957 and the business has always been kept in the family. Being rooted in the hospitality industry, the Wallers know a thing or two about running a successful restaurant:
Our mission is to provide guests with an excellent dining experience so they choose to come back time and again—and spread the word about our wonderful food, staff and atmosphere!
When you eat at Picoso’s, we aim to exemplify our core values of integrity, excellence, stewardship, hospitality and growth.
The Restaurant
The restaurant has a modern rustic feel to it, with industrial lighting and exposed air conditioning ducts. There is plenty of seating for both large groups and intimate parties. The bar area offers a couple of TVs and a craft cocktail bar. When we attended the sneak peek event, wait staff was plentiful, helpful, and nice!
The Food & Drink
The menu is vast with unique options like stuffed avocado (a fried avocado stuffed with fajita chicken, steak, or shrimp complete with cheese and sour cream sauce), Hatch green chili queso, and unique street-style tacos. Complete your lunch or dinner with a freshly squeezed margarita or handcrafted cocktail. We recommend finishing off your meal with Picoso’s sopapillas – bite-size sopapillas served with homemade dipping sauce!
