Type: Shopping and dining
Price: Varied
Vibe: A fun Saturday.
Quick Tip: Most of the shops and restaurants are open on Saturday so that is your best bet to hit up everything. Start at Avenue Q and work your way west.
After having lunch (see Part 1), we were ready to shop. 34th Street offers a concentrated and eclectic mix of antique and home stores you really can’t find anywhere else in Lubbock.
Starting near Avenue Q we checked out Daddy O’s and The Things We Love. Daddy O’s is right on trend with a neat selection of mid-century modern furniture and housewares, perfect for your Mad Men-inspired room.Next up on our itinerary was Those Iowa Girls Antiques who have two stores just blocks apart on 34th Street. Thank goodness I am in an apartment or I could have done some damage. Some very cool antique furniture at pretty reasonable prices. We then visited Vintage Rose Lubbock. The shop is very interesting with vintage clothing and accessories. We would recommend it if you ever need a period costume. Some vintage wedding dresses there too.
As we disclaimed in Part I, this is just a sampling of the neat things going on 34th Street. Public improvements are underway that we are sure will help keep 34th Street a vibrant corridor. Check out Shop 34th Street and make sure to visit and support these local businesses.
