Chicken, Chicken, Chicken! Which place are you pickin'?

Rumors have been swirling around town about several new chicken restaurants that are set to open soon. Here are some of the exciting new spots to look out for!

We've reached out to all of the restaurants below and are waiting on several responses.

Big Chicken

Location: 7411 Milwaukee (old Chicnese Kitchen location)

Founded by NBA legend Shaq, the location was supposed to open at the end of 2023. Per a social media comment in January, they are hoping to open in mid-2024!

Dave's Hot Chicken

Location: 6309 82nd (old Taco Bueno location)

In October 2023, Lubbock was included in a list of expansion locations. Opening in late May/early June.

Dirk's

Location: 146th and Quaker

The Brewery LBK and Dirk's were scheduled to open a second location in south Lubbock in 2023.

For now, check out their restaurant at 1636 13th or have their delicious chicken tenders at Neighborhood F+B at 9806 Quaker.

El Pollo Loco

Location: TBA

In April 2021, Lubbock was included in a list of expansion locations.

Free Range Fry House

Location: 6810 Milwaukee

Layne's Chicken Fingers

Location: TBA (five planned)

In May 2022, it was announced that five Lubbock locations are planned.

Nashbird

Location: TBA

In May 2022, the owner stated Lubbock may be home to a future location.

Pluckers Wing Bar

Location: TBA

In a Facebook post in October 2021, they mentioned they were considering a Lubbock location. Per conversation with Pluckers on social media in January 2024, no new updates at this time.
