Location: 609 Avenue H | Shallowater
Vibe: This place is a total vibe! We loved everything about it. A bit of an industrial/eclectic feel with a mix of brick, wood, & pops of Victorian color. At Fred’s you can eat, drink, shop, watch, and play. There is plenty of seating inside + a fenced in patio & yard that is dog & kid friendly. There are big TVs inside & out so you don’t miss any Tech/Chiefs (& we guess Cowboys) games.
Offerings: Coffee, tea, specialty sodas, sparkling water, beer, wine, & cocktails. Enjoy waffles, fruit, muffins, scones, cookies, biscuits, parfaits, pizza, salads, and more! We loved the hot lavender latte, Model T soda (Dr. Pepper, coconut, vanilla, cream), Greased Lightning (Coke, vanilla, cream, cherry), & the cheese pizza with homemade ranch.

How did Fred’s come about? “The community project we are planning in our little town of Shallowater was placed on my heart last year… we drove around town ALOT and every time we landed on “Fred’s Garage”. I enlisted my papa because when I think of a prayer warrior as well as a long time Shallowater resident…He’s right up there with the best of them! He drove around many times and prayed about it with us as well! Every time we talked he said…. It has to be FREDS’. I reached out to Fred’s son and told him my vision God placed on my heart and he agreed… we had to do it!We bought Fred’s Garage early Spring of 2021 without even seeing the inside. I’ve stayed In touch with his son… and love hearing as many stories I can about him. A couple days ago his son sent me a picture of this watercolor that was done in 1946 by a member of Red Cross while he was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He was in the base hospital due to some illness. Fred would come home soon after and later start the Fred’s Garage that we all know and love in 1947. When you come in next check out all of Fred’s things! I found an invoice given to my grandfather, a police statement from the great bus crash of 1947, his radio call tag and so much more!”
