Today, find your poodle skirts and leather jackets and take a trip with us to the swingin’ fifties. Imagine a 1950’s soda shop outfitted with a Wurlitzer jukebox and vintage décor; the sounds of Elvis Presley and Buddy Holly rockin’ the room. Holly Hop Ice Cream Shoppe, located on the 34th street drag, is a classic 50’s soda shop that is just waiting to take you back to the good ole’ days.
This weekend we took the flip-top out and goosed it on over for an afternoon snack. The menu was better than I ever imagined. Of course, they had the typical banana splits, milkshakes, and sundaes made with hand-dipped ice cream but they also had an impressive lunch menu. You can choose from a variety of sandwiches, hot dogs, pizzas, and chili pie. Also, try out the tasty old-fashioned sodas ranging from blue sodas to cream sodas.
I bought a vanilla malt and it was excellent. At first I thought it was a little pricey, but the quality and the size of the malt make up for it. The ice cream is even served in 50’s style glassware. There are a lot of flavor options and combinations that are sure to make everyone happy. Holly Hop’s has a very family friendly atmosphere and would also be great for a date night. They do have live music on certain days, so make sure to check out their schedule on Facebook.
Holly Hop’s is a great place for birthday parties, meetings, showers, or whatever gatherings that you want. There are packages available so give them a call for price. Make sure to visit their Facebook page and stop on by for a yummy treat and cool atmosphere!
