Hey y’all, my name is Taylor McAlpine, founder and co-owner of Local LBK! In case you haven’t heard of us we are on a mission to help make Lubbock a better place by empowering your everyday activities to impact our community! We’ll chat more about how we do that later on.
As you know, Lubbock in the Loop is one of Lubbock’s best online resources! As one of their followers, you love getting to stay “in the loop” with everything going on in town. LITL started back in 2012 and they have been actively sharing their experiences around the LBK since then!
How amazing is it that LITL has been helping us all answer the age-old question of “What is there to do in Lubbock?” for eight years! That is eight years of sharing events, recommendations, and learning about everything that’s “Coming Soon!” That’s eight years of tasty drinks, desserts, and dining options for any occasion! That’s eight years of musicals, parades, and First Friday Art Trails!
The awesome women behind LITL invited us to write a guest blog about the Local LBK app launch and rewards program but first, we wanted to take this opportunity to say,
“THANK YOU, LITL!”
Thank you LITL for your years of commitment to growing your platform to support our community. Thank you LITL for your desire to support local and how that impacts our local creatives and entrepreneurs. Thank you LITL for showcasing the arts in many of its forms as an inspiration and appreciation of the makers and doers in our city.
LITL started about a year and a half before we started Local LBK’s social media accounts. Their content was an inspiration to us to help people learn more about our awesome city. Their work in our community brings such great value to us all.
From my own experience in starting and running Local LBK, I know the difficulties that come with running a platform like LITL. These women have spent countless hours writing blogs, going to events, creating community resources, and helping keep us all “in the loop.” The awareness they help generate through word of mouth for our local businesses is what helps get some of these brands started!
LITL not only helps us learn about what’s new and coming to our city but helps us appreciate the great things we already have! Through this appreciation and growing community, we have hope for our shared future of what this city looks like!
This is where I invite you to get ready to take action!
As Lubbock continues to grow and as our community continues to evolve we need more champions for our city to shape how we grow and how we take care of our community. LITL does an amazing job at helping us discover and support our local and independent community and we have developed a program to make it even easier for us all to do the same!
Today we launched the Local LBK app to help you experience Lubbock while saving money and supporting our community all for just $5 a month! When you become a Local LBK Rewards Member you get access to exclusive rewards within our community of 70+ locally-owned and independent businesses, one of a kind member-only events, and knowing that every time you use a reward you are helping dollars stay in our community and that you are empowering locals in their dreams!
You can find rewards like 10% off your purchase at Mountain Hideaway, free chips and queso with an entree at La Sirena, and a free dessert with purchase at The Tea Room by Heart and Soul! Something we’re excited about is that you can even find rewards outside of the typical food, retail, and entertainment categories you find in other programs. We have a growing list of consumer services and business services that are part of the movement! We’re doing this to help you save money and support local no matter what you’re looking for!
We designed the Local LBK program to maximize the impact of our community in supporting each other. The program is free for businesses to join so that this can be an inclusive platform and truly represent the diversity of our community. Rewards Members easily make their money back with just one or two reward redemptions a month. The average user can save 100’s of dollars while getting the local experience, building relationships, and becoming a regular with the best brands in town. And to put our money where our mouth is, we are setting aside $1 from every monthly subscription to go back into our community to make it a better place.
On top of all of this, we wanted to create an opportunity to show our thanks and provide support for those who help grow the Local LBK community!
That is why we are giving LITL 10% of the revenue from those who sign up using their link! This is a great way to help LITL continue creating awesome free content helping us to live like locals.
This is our call to action: that we want to be part of shaping and growing Lubbock to work together and positively impact our community. By truly experiencing Lubbock, saving money, and supporting local we can create experiences and relationships that impact Lubbock now and for generations to come!
So join us and support LITL and our community by becoming a Local LBK Rewards Member!
