The definition of a “pet” is a domestic or tamed animal or bird kept for companionship or pleasure and treated with care and affection.
How many times have you come across a lost animal? I think about the story behind times that I’ve seen dogs on the loose. Most of us can’t just stop and save all the animals in the world, but we can provide information to the internet world about lost and found pets.
The days of posters on street signs are fading, and social media has taken over. Spreading news by Facebook and Twitter reaches a lot more people at an almost instant rate. The Lost and Found Pets of Lubbock, Texas Facebook page is a great resource to stay connected to as a Lubbock resident. If you read through the comments you will see how many animals have been reunited with their families. People post pictures about animals they have found or animals they have lost. It is a community that cares about animals and wants to help others find their missing pets.
Lubbock Animal Services will pick up these pets which gets them off the street, but hundreds of animals are euthanized each year. I agree that the population has to be controlled, but if there is something extra the community can do to keep animals off the streets then I am all for it. If your pet gets lost, this Facebook page just provides an extra resource for you to locate them quicker. Keep your animals “in the loop.”
