Slim Chickens | 5508 4th Street, 4509 98th Street, and 2405 19th Street
The Menu:
Of course the main entrees revolve around chicken, but you can either choose between the traditional tenders or wings. The chicken can be placed into wraps, sandwiches, salads, or paired with a buttery waffle. The entrees come with dipping sauce, Texas toast and fries, but the fries can be substituted for other options (most with no extra fee). The side options consist of macaroni and cheese, potato salad, coleslaw, side salad, carrots & celery, and, for a small up-charge, fried pickles, fried mushrooms, and fried okra. The dipping sauces are what really make Slim Chickens stand out. They are made from scratch in the restaurant as opposed to being pre-packaged. Choose between the house sauce, BBQ, cayenne ranch, ranch, honey mustard, spicy BBQ, gravy, or blue cheese. Slim Chickens also has signature flavored teas that consists or raspberry and peach. Our Experience:
It was a lovely Saturday afternoon in the LBK and as were driving down 4th Street around lunch time, we saw the Slim Chickens sign and thought, 1. We are hungry and 2. We should probably write an article. It was so spontaneous in fact that we did not have our camera to take pictures of our lunch. Thus, we got some great pictures off of Slim Chickens Lubbock’s Facebook page.
The inside is what you expect- tables and chairs. Everything was clean and tidy though and we were welcomed at the cash register. We both went with the Chicks Plate which consists of three chicken fingers, a side, Texas toast, a drink and a dipping sauce. By the way, the to-go is great! The containers they use keep the food hot and ready to eat when you get home.
The Service:
The service was better than most fast food restaurants. The atmosphere was fun with a nice music playlist and the staff seemed very friendly. They bring the food to you and even come by and throw it away for you. Your order arrives hot, fresh and it’s made to order so be a little patient. It’s worth the short wait!
