The Funky Door outgrew its old location (in the River Crossing shopping center) and now has its own big, beautiful, freestanding building along the ever popular Milwaukee corridor.
The main feature in the new building is the two-story wine tower, plus a nice new stage area. It really is a beautiful building with chandeliers, lighted spiral staircase, art, and fireplaces. A great place for special occasions.
As one can imagine, it is very busy on the weekend. Make online reservations here.
The menu items have not changed except for about a $1-$2 price increase. We enjoyed the Funky Door Fried Pickles, which were egg roll style with the pickle, Havarti cheese, and spicy ranch on the side. Our appetizer was followed up with the Gouda/caraway fondue with grilled chicken and croutons. The food was delicious and worth the extra couple of dollars. And, of course we had two glasses of cabernet wine.
We sat on the second floor which gave us a great view of the bar, stage, wine tower, and the large patio with plenty of table and lounge seating. A very impressive place!
LITL Tips: On a budget? The fondue is enough for 2-4 people. Buying a bottle is usually more wallet friendly than glasses if you are with a group. Make reservations online. Leave the kids at home.
