Walk-On | a college athlete who tries out for an athletic team without having been recruited or offered a scholarship
(according to Merriam-Webster)
The story of Walk-On’s is an interesting one. The two founders wrote down their idea on a napkin on a plane ride home from a basketball game in which they did not even play. Knowing that they probably would not make it in the big leagues, they did not give up on their dream of opening up a restaurant that would be a perfect game day experience from the food to the drinks to the service.
Lubbock is the first franchise location of Walk-On’s outside of Louisiana. This location has brought 235 new jobs to our community.
Walk-On’s has a large indoor area, plenty of TVs, a great outdoor patio, and even some fun games (basketball shootout, mini-golf simulator, etc) to play while you wait for a table. It is a fun atmosphere and great place to watch your favorite team.
The menu has a great variety for those who are not fans of Louisianan-type food. The burgers are excellent! We tried the burger and shrimp along with a fried pickle appetizer. The batter on all of these foods gives the dish an excellent taste. The portions are LARGE!
